Being in Japan that past week, it's pretty obvious why... all the other DS publishers decided not to go up against Christmas release of Dragon Quest Monsters. Who would be crazy enough to go toe-to-toe against Square-Enix's biggest Japanese franchise, doing a monster-collecting game on the DS, no less? Only Nintendo and Square-Enix had any ads in the subways and TV at all.

This week's DS charts only has one Nintendo-published game in the top 5. It's like a weird round-robin where different territories take turns to let Nintendo make money.
