You know what's funny? I had a dream the other night that Jason Della Rocca approached me at a party and asked me why I hadn't renewed my IGDA membership, and I was explaining that I didn't feel like the IGDA did anything to justify my paying $50. Of course Jason has left the organization long since past, and even longer have I failed to renew, so I think reading your statement triggered the dream. Anyway, that's the bottom line, give me tangible benefits or at least a measurable goal to support and I'll renew my membership.

If you want some contacts into South America or have some questions ping me and I'll do my best to accomodate you.

Jack -- getting more individuals from outside North America onto the board would be a good start (and yes, I recognize the inherent irony in that suggestion. Fortunately, the board can appoint up to three directors outside the confines of an election; that presents a good opportunity to internationalize the board a bit more.) That's just a start, of course; building up more international events and making more (currently English-only) content available to international members is necessary as well.

I'm not a member, but I'm curious - what, in your opinion, can or should IGDA do to become more "International"?

Best of luck, David. Out of the few Q&A statements I've read, yours seems the most straight to the point.

There's a lot of good intentions floating around, but we all know how that proverb goes. It was definitely nice seeing concrete (and researched) answers to questions like potential time commitments. Hopefully you'll get a shot at making those $48 count.
